Who are you?
We’re a group of people who love playing video games, who have taken some time off this winter to raise money for a good cause. Over the course of the weekend, friends will be joining us in our shenanigans.
Are you affiliated with Nintendo?
Not at all. This is a 100% unofficial fan-run event.
What is your association with Childs Play Charity?
We have no official affiliation with Child's Play Charity. However we have been recognized as a silver corporate sponsor. We like to think that they like us, too.
Are you taking a portion of the donations?
No member of the Hyrule Hustlers team comes in contact with any of your donations. All donations made go directly to Child's Play Charity through Paypal.
What are you planning during the event?
Besides playing the games? There are numerous donation and Twitter prizes that will be given away during the marathon. For more information, visit to Contests and Prizes page. We’ll also be having live challenges and activities throughout the event. Hilarity will most certainly ensue.
Where did you get this idea?
We have shamefully taken the idea from the wonderful people at mariomarathon.com, and the various other gaming marathons, all of whom put on excellent events of their own. We hope that we can achieve much of the same enthusiasm and support that they have all brought to their own marathons.
How do I donate?
On the front page there is a large button that says "Donate Now". Simply click on that and you will be taken to a Paypal page where you can make your donation. If you don't have a Paypal account, follow the link under the "Don't have a PayPal account?" subheading, where you'll be able to simply enter your payment information in order to make a donation.
Will I get a Tax receipt?
Yes. After a donation is made, you a tax receipt will be delivered to your email address. If you reside outside the United States, please consult your tax professional to ascertain whether a donation to Child's Play Charity is considered tax deductible.
Are you any good at these games?
Some of us are, and some of us aren't. However, we do promise to be entertaining through all our triumphs and failures.
How long are you going to be playing?
That's up to you. The more donations made, the longer we'll play. Donations will unlock additional hours of playtime, placing you directly in control of the length of the marathon.
Why aren't you playing other Zelda titles? ie. handheld games
Console games are easier to broadcast for you all to see. But hey, you never know... if we make it to Hyrule Hustlers 5, we might just have to break out the Game Boy Player.
What Versions of the games are you playing?
The NES and SNES games, as well as Majora's Mask will be played on the Wii Virural console. We will be playing Gamecube version of Ocarina of Time, while Twilight Princess and Skyward Sword will be played on the Wii. Finally, we will be playing Wind Waker HD and Hyrule Warriors on the WiiU.
How can I get involved?
You can promote this event by sharing it on Facebook, Twitter, and other social media sites. Getting the word out to as many people as possible would be a great help.
How are you broadcasting the event?
We'll be broadcasting on twitch.tv, and right here at hyrulehustlers.com.
What systems are you using?
We will be using 2 Nintendo Wii's, and a WiiU.
What equipment are you using to put on the event?
For our fourthyear, we have decided to use much better and more sophisticated software. We're using 2 Logitech C910’s and a C920 to provide 3 distinct camera angles. We’re using an Avermedia Live Gamer HD to capture video from both the Wii and WiiU. To capture the room audio we’re using an Audio Technica Pro 44 boundary microphone. We've chosen to use an Alesis audio mixer to mix the sound from the living room and the game, so that you'll receive a nice balance of both. To combine all of our video elements, and to steam to twitch, we’re using Xsplit.
